in the silence of solitude

in the meadow where no other being lays

she sits alone

watching, withering

waiting

for the world to swallow her whole

for the ground to open up beneath her

and wrap her in its embrace

for her mother to greet her

and welcome her back home

the stillness settles around her now

the light shines on her face

her fingers graze each blade of grass

and they sing below her touch

the flowers sway in the gentle breeze and

the wind carries with it a whisper

she is not alone

sighing softly

serenity

nature breathes with her

tears fall on her tired cheeks

like the glow of dewdrops

lingering long after

a distant storm

growing buds take new roots

from a fallen tree

wilting petals cascade down

in brilliant shades of pink

she

one with earth

earth

one with her

and so it’s always been
