    As one of the founding members of Glaze and current Editor in Chief, Skyler has worked tirelessly over the years to build Glaze into a dynamic platform. In and beyond the pages of Glaze, Skyler is deeply involved in every aspect of the magazine's existence. From planning captivating events to meticulously organizing systems, fostering interpersonal relationships, and ensuring a seamless publishing process, Skyler, in tandem with her fellow leaders, is the driving force behind Glaze's continued growth.

  • Mariam Ali (Mars)

    CO-EDITOR-IN-CHIEF

    Mars, a native of Karachi, Pakistan, and a key member in establishing Glaze, assumed the role of Creative Director in 2019 and has been at the helm of Glaze ever since. During high school, she relocated from Karachi to Texas. Mars pursued her education at the University of Texas at Austin, earning a B.S. in Corporate Communication. Alongside her academic achievements, she is a skilled makeup artist with formal training from The Makeup Academy NYC. To explore more of Mars's work, visit her website.

  • Maha Qadri

    PRODUCTION DIRECTOR

    Maha joined Glaze in 2021 as Layout Director. They studied Professional Writing at UTSA and got their start in the industry running the Paisano Plus, a student-run magazine. Maha has experience managing the production and post-production processes of magazines, videos, podcasts, and other multimedia projects. Like a true Capricorn, they have three jobs, are pursuing a master’s degree, and are learning a new language. You can find their portfolio here.

  • Walter Naranjo (Wally)

    OPERATIONS DIRECTOR

    Wally recently joined Glaze, bringing a blend of creative and administrative expertise from the fashion scene, where he initially started as a stylist in 2021. As a recently promoted Assistant Project Manager, he spearheads the construction of high rises shaping the Austin skyline. Wally blends his operations, business, and engineering acumen to influence his creative vision with the essence of everyday life.

  • Ashlee Hawkins (Ash)

    MARKETING DIRECTOR

    Since joining Glaze in the Spring of 2022, Ash has made the legitimacy and legacy of Glaze as a publication their ultimate goal. They leveraged their initial experience on the Modeling and Social Media teams to create connections with both the magazine’s internal and external communities, leading to their role as Marketing Director. Within this position, Ashlee will utilize their passion for people, arts and media to diversify Glaze’s content and earn an engaged audience. Ashlee hopes to use their education and the transferable skills they gain from Glaze to become a well rounded professional and authentic community builder.

  • Katrina Walters

    DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

    Katrina joined Glaze in Spring 2022 as part of the Events and Community Outreach teams. She quickly took on the roles of Assistant Director and then Director of Community Outreach, bringing creative production experience from the comedy scene and administrative experience from working for both local non-profits and the tech sector. Katrina loves to provide people and artistic communities the care and support they need to accomplish their best work.

  • Audrey Sinclair

    STRATEGY DIRECTOR

    Audrey joined Glaze in 2021 after spending a summer modeling professionally in Milan, Italy. With expertise in commercial, editorial, and beauty shoots, she boasts an impressive portfolio of over 20 campaigns, including features in 10 publications. Notably, Glaze serves as Audrey's creative haven, balancing her career as a security intelligence and insider threat investigator.

  • Arthur Mangum

    LAYOUT DIRECTOR

    Arthur became part of Glaze’s community and Layout team in Fall 2022, working his way up from Assistant Director to Co-Director, and now to Director in Spring of 2024. With a deep background in graphic design, marketing, and 2-Dimensional Art, he quickly found a creative haven within Glaze. For Arthur, Glaze is more than just layout and pages bound together; it's a testament to the power of community, collaboration and the beauty that emerges when diverse minds come together.   • Raina Harmon

    MAKEUP DIRECTOR

    Raina Harmon joined Glaze’s Hair and Makeup department in early 2021. Having been passionate for the artistry of hair and makeup since she was very young, Raina quickly realized that contributing to Glaze’s various photoshoots as an artist in a collaborative effort is extremely fulfilling. In 2023, she became the Director of Hair and Makeup, and has found leading a group of such talented creatives very inspiring. Raina also received her BFA in Studio Art in 2023, and has had her paintings displayed in several exhibitions. Raina is passionate to work in the arts, express creativity, and be a part of the local art/creative community.

  • Jesús Daniel

    PHOTOGRAPHY DIRECTOR
    he/him/his

    Jesús joined Glaze in Spring 2022 as part of the photography team. His photography skills earned his very first team with Glaze the cover photo for the Vol. VII: Halcyon. Shortly after, he took on the roles of Assistant Director and then moved on to Director of Photography. As a multimedia artist, he combines digital software with his experimental printmaking techniques to create his unique style and as a photo studio retoucher and in-house talent agency photographer, he has been able to bring experience and insight to his fellow creatives. With a passion for creating, he will continue to learn and grow with his Glaze community.

    Alyssa first joined Glaze in Spring 2023 as part of the photography team to expand her creative horizons and build community with more artists in Texas. She graduated from UNT with a B.A. in photojournalism in 2021 and has been pursuing freelance photography since 2019. Alyssa is passionate about photographing editorial fashion and creative portraits, and draws inspiration from experimental music and art.

  • Sydney Planka

    Sydney joined Glaze in 2022 to connect, build, and expand with a creative community. After her first issue as a model she was asked to take on the role of Assistant Modeling Director. Now, taking on the role of Co-Director of Modeling. She has also been a part of the social media team capturing the essence of events and creating posts for Glaze’s social media platforms. Sydney aspires to act as a mentor and help models on the team align with their true potential. She has been modeling since the age of 16 and has found freelancing the most beneficial in her creative pursuits. Sydney has expanded through multiple mediums as she is a multi medium artist. She feels it is part of her duty to help others align with their truth, making this leadership role extra special.

  • Will Lunt

    MODELING ASST DIRECTIOR

    Will joined the modeling team at Glaze in Fall 2023 in search of a community of like-minded creatives and an outlet for his ideas to run wild. After two volumes with Glaze, he took over the role as an Assistant Modeling Director. Will is currently completing a B.A. in Mass Communication at Texas State University, and has gained experience working as a freelance model with several publications over the last couple of years. Will is thrilled to put his experience and passion for the arts to use and having the opportunity to collaborate with all of the talented directors and teams at Glaze.  

  • Esma Shahin

    MODELING ASST DIRECTOR

    Esma joined Glaze as a model in Spring 2024, drawn by the magazine’s diverse community and bold creative direction. A first generation immigrant from Cairo, Egypt, Esma brings a lifelong experience of working with contrast, bridging cultures and translating ideas through visual and verbal expression. Esma graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and has worked in mechanical design.

  • Melina Perez

    STYLING CO-DIRECTOR

    Melina joined Glaze in 2021 after searching for a community of like-minded folks and an outlet that would allow her creative ideas to run free. She graduated from UT Austin in 2019 with a degree in Apparel Design; six months later, she was fully immersed in her career as a costume designer and stylist for film, TV, music videos, commercials and more. During the Halloween season, you can find her cultivating the horrors as the Costume Manager at House of Torment. You can find more of Melina’s work here.

  • Brendan Thomas

    Brendan joined Glaze in August of 2023, being a part of the modeling and styling departments. He’s loved being involved in every aspect of shoot season, and just recently graduated from Texas State University, with a BFA in Performance and Production. Bringing his costuming and acting expertise to the table each volume, he has been able to fully dive in and create with passion and a sense of specificity for every shoot he’s been a part of. Every detail is intentional, and his work truly emulates his personal style and ingenuity. He cannot wait to get started this volume, and work closer than ever before with these creatives he knows and loves.

  • Amarys Dejai

    Amarys joined Glaze in the spring of 2022. She began as a writer for Glaze, working her way to up Assistant Director of Writing, to now Director. She graduated Cum Laude with her BA in English in 2023, and has been published within a variety of journals, magazines, and presses since her teen years. In addition to being a writer, she is a model, artist, and film photographer and has worked with various art and social justice organizations. Of all of her creative endeavors, being a part of Glaze has been the most liberating and inspiring, and she is full of joy to be a part of such a talented community and watch it grow.   • Jazlyn Figueroa

    Jazlyn, an Austin native, has been a member of Glaze since Fall 2022. She is currently pursuing her degree in Textiles and Apparel at the University of Texas at Austin, focusing on sustainable product development. She joined Glaze to expand her creative network and delve into editorial fashion, and is now the Co-Director of Social Media. Jazlyn is excited to continue growing and learning within the Glaze community and is proud to be part of an organization that embraces individuality and celebrates artists in all forms.

  • Aoife Hopkins

    Aoife (pronounced “aye-fuh”) is an Austin local and has been in Glaze since Fall 2022. She is a Public Relations student at the University of Texas at Austin pursuing a career in nonprofit marketing. Aoife enforces the core values of Glaze by establishing relationships with local mutual aids and publishing the stories of activists and artists. She is extremely proud of Community Outreach’s work and is excited to keep Glaze grounded to the people.

  • Olivia Emigh

    Olivia joined Glaze in August 2022 as a member of the events team. After two volumes, she became the sole Events Coordinator in August 2023, collaborating closely with Skyler Burk. Now starting her first volume as Events Director, Olivia has significantly contributed to planning and executing a range of successful events. With over 8 years of experience in the Austin tech industry, she combines technical and event management skills to create memorable experiences for the Glaze community. Olivia also contributes to the social media team and occasionally writes for Glaze, finding fulfillment in supporting Austin's creative community.

  • Lauren Smola

    EVENT COORDINATOR

    Lo was introduced to Glaze in February of 2024 and became instantly mesmerized by its events, content, and branding. She wanted to be part of the creative magic that exuded from the Glaze community and joined as an events coordinator in the summer of 2024. Lo graduated from UNT with a marketing degree, knowing she had interested in promoting businesses and showing others what they’re all about. She has always been one to spearhead social projects and festive gatherings, starting at the young age of 11. Lo is ecstatic (to say the least) to bring the community together alongside such a unique and fabulous zine, filled with such beauty and talent!
